Thanksgiving around here is not spent as the pilgrims intended.  We sacrifice the feast and hospitality for our own holiday tradition, a camping trip to the Yampa River.  This was the 4th year now that we have gone on our little excursion and similar to past trips, it was cold and also pretty fishy.
This year the crew was Jack, Ryan, Cooper and myself.  As with all holiday traditions, it is the people that make the celebration so memorable.  Fishing is such a personal thing that sometimes it can seem weird to mix it with others.  I always relish any opportunity where I get to spend the day on the water by myself but I have also grown to appreciate my time on the water with others.  I realize that the truth is, we’re all better fisherman for fishing with each other.  This is especially true on a river like the Yampa.  The pools are all close to another and filled with fish allowing everyone to be pretty much be hanging out on the river as we fished.  And to that I give thanks!
Meanwhile, my buddy Chris had his own little Turkey Day celebration by introducing his puppy Blue to a Taylor brown.
